Spring is in full swing as the temperatures dance between cool and warm. We are slowly but surely shedding the layers of winter fashion, and it is time to embrace the colorful fun of spring dressing. Four key fashion trends from the ready-to-wear Spring\/Summer 2026 season caught our attention. Here are the trends to know now from the runways of\u00a0New York, Paris, London, and Milan, as well as the recent red carpets in Hollywood.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent years, fashion designers have embraced the beauty of pastels for Spring\/Summer collections. A few lavenders and pale pinks were\u00a0definitely seen\u00a0fluttering on runways at Michael Kors, Chlo\u00e9, and Tory Burch, but what excites us most this year is the prevalence of primary colors. Bold yellows, cobalt blues, and fire engine reds make for striking spring\/summer options this year.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bright sunny yellow took many forms \u2013 near monochrome at Rabanne, Fendi, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, and Loewe (see image above). Blue hues also dominated, seen in monochrome at Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs, Area, and more. And red, especially bright cherry red, was near ubiquitous, seen at Fendi, Givenchy, Tory Burch, Alice & Olivia, Issey Miyake, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Valentino,\u00a0Balenciaga, and more.\u00a0\u00a0In fact, red was so dominant for spring\/summer ready-to-wear, that editors at\u00a0<\/span>Harpers\u00a0Bazaar<\/span><\/a>\u00a0suggested that the best way to be on-trend this year is to\u00a0<\/span>add\u00a0\u201ca pop of bright fire-engine red to your outfit.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pairing of primary colors also abounds\u00a0for the season\u00a0ahead. Yellow and blue\u00a0pair perfectly at\u00a0Celine\u00a0(see feature image). Bright reds and cobalt blues\u00a0share the spotlight\u00a0at Jil Sander\u00a0(see\u00a0immediately\u00a0above).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For accessorizing, precious gemstones do the trick.\u00a0Red rubies<\/a><\/u>,\u00a0blue sapphires<\/a><\/u>,\u00a0fancy yellow diamonds<\/a><\/u>\u00a0all partner well with primary colors. You can also add that spot of red to your outfit by wearing statement\u00a0ruby ring<\/a><\/u>\u00a0or\u00a0pair of earrings<\/a><\/u>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hints of chartreuse are also on the rise, seen at Prada, Balenciaga, Valentino, and more. Look for more of this standout hue in the months to come.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The runways also featured an almost collegiate vibe that we are calling Sporty Chic. Short skirts are back\u00a0<\/span>en\u00a0vogue<\/span><\/i>. Tennis skirts and mini pleats were seen at Dior, Alice + Olivia, Rabanne, and more. Short shorts and\u00a0pantless\u00a0tops\u00a0proved another fun way to put the focus on the leg, featured at Lacoste, Max Mara, and Givenchy. Bras are continuing to thrive at Prada, Fendi, Jason Wu, and more.\u00a0\u00a0The academia vibe comes from\u00a0collegiate sweaters, rugby\u00a0stripes, vibrant blue, and polos \u2013\u00a0a very youthful or playful mood.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though the feel is quite causal, the overall look\u00a0is still\u00a0chic. Pair the lingerie-inspired bralettes with\u00a0<\/span>bright button earrings<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span>huggie\u00a0hoops<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>shorter drops<\/span><\/a>. For the sporty blazer worn over shorts or miniskirts (seen at Ralph Lauren, Max Mara, and more), opt for a longer\u00a0<\/span>sleek drop earring<\/span><\/a>. Footwear is a big part of this aesthetic. Most of the looks feature sneakers or sandals, letting the full length of the leg be admired, ankle and all.\u00a0Thongs, clogs, and both colorful and ornamented sandals will\u00a0prevail, once\u00a0the temperatures rise. And sneakers are getting more fun every year. This year wear them with short socks to let the calves be seen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another widely spotted trend for spring is what we are calling the Volume Beneath. For last season (<\/span>Fall\/Winter 2025-26<\/span><\/a>), we reported on bulky shoulders and high necks. But this year, the focus has shifted below, as designers featured\u00a0an abundance of big sassy skirts, peplums, and\u00a0dramatic\u00a0statement skirts, mostly worn with a simple top.\u00a0\u00a0According to\u00a0<\/span>W Magazine<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0\u201c<\/span>This season, designers are flipping the formula by calling for party skirts to take center stage while the predictable\u00a0\u2018going out\u2019\u00a0top is left firmly at home.\u201d\u00a0 Wide flouncy skirts were seen at\u00a0Balenicaga\u00a0(see feature image),\u00a0Chanel, Givenchy, Christian Siriano, and\u00a0even dramatic\u00a0flair skirts or\u00a0trains\u00a0at Carolina Herrera (see above). Peplums brought attention to the pelvis at Max Mara,\u00a0Khaite, Stella McCartney, and more.\u00a0\u00a0The width came in various forms \u2013 feathers, fringe, petticoats, and more, expertly drawing the eye below.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With so much mass below the waist and simple tops above, the look calls for bold accessories. Wider drop earrings like\u00a0<\/span>PICCHIOTTI\u2019s new Marquise Eclipse diamond earrings<\/span><\/a>\u00a0or the\u00a0<\/span>Essentially Color chandelier earrings<\/span><\/a>\u00a0help to\u00a0balance the width below and\u00a0add a sense of movement to match that of the flouncy skirt.\u00a0\u00a0Bold chunky\u00a0bracelets, preferably stacked (as seen at Michael Kors for example), make the perfect adornment, as well,\u00a0to compete with the colorful swaying\u00a0as you walk.\u00a0<\/span>PICCHIOTTI\u2019s new Essentially Color bracelets<\/span><\/a>\u00a0work well. Another noteworthy trend we noticed for 2026 came from the award\u00a0show\u00a0red carpets. Old Hollywood Glamour is back. The look \u201cdominated the Golden Globes\u201d (<\/span>Vogue<\/span><\/i><\/a>)\u00a0and continued to shine at the SAG AFTRA Actor Awards and the Oscars. Elegant floor-length gowns, opera gloves, and a vintage 1920s, 30s, or 40s feel create the aesthetic. Stars were brilliantly adorned by diamonds, drop or chandelier earrings, and singular statement necklaces. Pardon the pun, but one necklace after another ruled the Oscars red carpet. High jewelry is a big part of the look. As you prep for spring galas and charity balls, bring out the gloves (also trending on ready-to-wear runways, by the way), and the boldest jewels you can find. For a high collar short necklace with loads of sparkle,\u00a0<\/span>PICCHIOTTI\u2019s new Hexagon necklace<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is a perfect fit. Overall, the vibe for Spring\/Summer 2026 is one of mixing things up. Instead of pastels, opt for primary colors occasionally. Instead of sparkly tops, try a plain blouse with a flouncy colorful skirt. Instead of minimalism for black tie attire, choose Old Hollywood glam. And feel free to be sporty, as long as you stay chic.
